CHEP selects Meridian Global Services to handle its expense management

London, 20th May 2010
London – Meridian Global Services has today announced that CHEP, the global leader in pallet and container pooling services has selected Meridian’s expense management service, Expenseflo, as its pan European solution for handling employee expense management.
Having more than 7,500 employees worldwide and operating in 45 countries, travel is an essential part of the working life for many CHEP employees. Consequently CHEP management is continually looking at ways to increase efficiencies and reduce costs in this area, while also easing the administrative burden for its travelling employees.
CHEP recognised that the existing manual process for managing employee expenses was time consuming and therefore extremely costly. Management also lacked robust reporting which limited their ability to negotiate better rates with their suppliers.
In 2009 CHEP embarked on a tendering process whereby all the key expense management solution providers in the market were invited to submit proposals and present their solutions. At the end of this process having considered all options, CHEP’s senior management team decided to implement the full Expenseflo service provided by Meridian. Expenseflo is a flexible service consisting of three stand alone components; an on-line expense management system, an in-depth receipts analysis service and a VAT recovery function – ensuring full travel policy compliance and maximum VAT recovery.
Andrés Moreno, CHEP’s European Finance Director commented on the announcement: “Having examined closely all alternative solutions available on the market, Expenseflo stood out as the clear front runner. In the current economic climate cutting costs and gaining efficiencies are top of the agenda and Meridian was able to demonstrate where Expenseflo will deliver savings for CHEP. We were also keen to engage with a company with a proven track record in the area of maximising VAT recovery.”
Meridian Global Services currently boasts a client base of in excess of 15,000 companies consisting of the world’s largest companies. Expenseflo has already been adopted by clients such as Airbus that describe the service as ‘best in class’.
Adam Smith, Commercial Manager, Meridian Global Services said: "We are delighted to have been selected and are excited to be able to roll out this service for CHEP. We look forward to delivering the benefits to CHEP’s travelling employees that will experience the added value of Expenseflo such the reduced time for approving and reimbursing expenses."
